Maya Abdominal Therapy

Maya abdominal therapy is an external non-invasive massage which focuses on the abdomen, pelvis, and low back to restore digestive and reproductive health.  When internal organs have shifted out of proper position it restricts the flow of blood, lymph, nerve, and chi creating disease.  This technique corrects the surrounding muscles and ligaments, improves organ function, normalizes hormones, and flushes toxins.

Digestive Health

Individuals with digestive disorders benefit greatly from Maya Abdominal Massage. The upper abdomen is  given a deep, thorough massage to loosen the tight muscles around the stomach and the arteries that feed the digestive and eliminative organs with their vital blood supply. The diaphragm is gently massaged allowing relaxation and opening of the abdominal cavity which releases physical and emotional congestion.

Some conditions treated are:
Irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, indigestion, and heartburn.

For Women

The uterus is held in position by muscles, the vaginal wall and ligaments that attach it to the back, front, and sides of the pelvis. The ligaments and muscles can weaken and loosen, causing the uterus to fall downward, forward, backward or to either side.  A tilted or prolapsed uterus can constrict normal flow of blood and lymph, and disrupt nerve connections. Just a few extra ounces sitting on blood and lymph vessels can cause havoc throughout the different systems in the body. By shifting the uterus back into place, homeostasis, or the natural balance of the body, is restored in the pelvic area and the surrounding organs. Toxins are flushed and nutrients that help to tone tissue and balance hormones are restored to normal order. This is essential to ensure health and vitality during the many cycles of a woman’s life including healthy menstruation, pre-conception, pregnancy, peri-menopause and menopause.

Symptoms of displaced uterus are:

Pregnancy related - infertility, chronic miscarriages, failure to or irregular ovulation
Menstrual - Painful or irregular periods, excessive bleeding, headache with menses, PMS.
Menopause - Hotflashes, mood changes, weight gain, insomnia
Urinary - Frequent urination, incontinence, bladder infections
Other - Endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts

Emotional Health

Stress and negative emotions can accumulate in our abdomen, slowly weakening our internal organs and immune system.  Most digestive health problems are believed to be a direct result of blocked or unreleased emotions.  It is not uncommon to experience an emotional release or memory while or after receiving abdominal massage.

Contraindications: During active menstrual bleeding, IUD, pelvic cancer.
